Why use Amtwort if ChatGPT can write letters?

ChatGPT can write surprisingly good letters. So why pay for Amtwort? The more interesting question is where the real problem actually begins.

# Why use Amtwort if ChatGPT can write letters?

The honest answer: sometimes you genuinely do not need us.

ChatGPT can write. Quite well, in fact.

It can draft a polite email, turn an angry complaint into something calmer and produce a remarkably professional letter from three bullet points. Anyone claiming AI simply cannot do that probably has not tried one for a while.

So why pay for Amtwort if ChatGPT can write the same letter?

The more interesting question is: is writing the letter really the difficult part?

The difficult part often comes before the writing

Imagine you receive an official letter.

You read it once.

Then again.

By the third reading you know every word, but you are not necessarily any wiser.

What exactly do they want from you? Do you even need to reply? Which information matters? What belongs to the backstory? What do you want to achieve? And which of those things actually needs to go into the response?

ChatGPT can only work with what you give it.

If you misunderstand the original letter, leave out an important detail or fail to explain your actual goal, the result can still sound perfectly polished.

It may simply be the wrong letter.

A beautifully phrased misunderstanding is still a misunderstanding.

A good prompt is already work

For AI to write a suitable letter, it needs context.

Who wrote to you? What happened? What has already been agreed? Is there a deadline? What outcome do you want? What tone is appropriate? Which details absolutely must be included?

If you have already sorted all of that out clearly, you have completed a large part of the job.

And that is the small contradiction here: many people seek help precisely because they do not want to do that preparatory work, or because they are not sure what matters.

They do not want to learn how to engineer the perfect prompt first, and then spend another twenty minutes checking whether the perfect-looking answer on screen actually fits their situation.

Linguistically correct is not automatically appropriate

AI is excellent at sounding convincing.

That is both one of its most useful and one of its trickiest qualities.

A sentence can be polite and still sound too submissive. Factual and still unnecessarily aggressive. Professional and still state something you never intended to say.

There is also a very human problem: if you are already unsure about the situation itself, you may not be able to judge the result with confidence either.

If you still end up wondering whether you can really send the text, the technology may have written something, but it has not necessarily solved your problem.

So what does Amtwort do differently?

With Amtwort, you do not have to formulate a perfect brief for us.

You send us the letter, or describe the situation in your own words, and tell us what happened and what you want to achieve. In German, English or Hungarian. Bullet points are fine.

If something is missing or unclear, we ask.

Then we turn it into a German text you can send yourself.

So the difference is not:

Human good. AI bad.

The difference is which part of the work you want to do yourself.

When ChatGPT is perfectly sufficient

If you understand the original text, know exactly what you want to say and can judge the result yourself, there is little reason not to use ChatGPT.

For rescheduling an appointment, asking a simple question or sending a message whose content is completely clear, it would be rather odd for us to insist that you absolutely need a professional writing service.

Go ahead and use it.

Amtwort is not here to invent problems so that we can then charge you to solve them.

And when does Amtwort make sense?

When the problem begins one step earlier.

When you are sitting in front of the letter thinking:

What do they actually want from me?

Or:

I know exactly what I want to say. I just cannot get it into words that will land the way I mean them.

That is pretty much the problem Amtwort was created for.

You do not have to work out how to extract the right answer from an AI.

Send us the letter and tell us what you want to achieve. We take care of the rest.
